ARCHITECTURE CULTURE & HISTORY 1 

In this project we focused on  investigating historical works to enrich architectural design and ideas. Through the study of existing buildings, we were able to inform and expand our own architectural vocabulary and develop design concepts.

 

 

Learning outcomes

 

1. To produce building analysis which document intentions, concepts, patterns, disciplines, architectural language and contextual relationships.

 

2.  To produce graphical development, expansion and elaboration of intentions, concepts, patterns, disciplines, architectural language and contextual relationships in developing architectural critics’ skill.

PROJECT 1- ONLINE DISCUSSION

The first project for culture and history 1 is to have a online discussion on the site that given. I am grouped with Jun Yen, Shi Yin, Men Horng and Zhao Yin. The site given to us is Luxor Temple. We have to research on the specific topic about the temple. For example, the architects, circulation of temple, selection of materials etc. 

There are 5 questions and I took question 3 for my online discussion.

Question 3 

i. What is the form, or shape of the building?

ii. How the form or shape of the building contributes in making the building historically significant and meaningful?

PROJECT 2- SKETCH JOURNAL

The second project of Culture and History 1 is an individual project. I have to produce a sketch journal about my study towrads Luxor Temple. The journal has to be sketched and hand drawn. Here are my sketch journals

PROJECT 3 - PRESENTATION BOARD

The last project for this subject is to produce a presentation board on the site given from the first project, Luxor Temple. I have to further study on this temple as the questions given towards the temple is different. 

I took question 3 as my topic. It is about the circulation of the Luxor Temple.
