ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

This module introduces students to environmental issues and provides some in-depth understanding of the complexities and interactions that the design and construction professions have to deal with to contain some of the irreversible damage that human settlement causes to the environment. Modules also intend to instill basic ecological literacy and environmental concerns through projects that involves local environment and society

Learning Outcomes

1. Recognize the effect of growth on the environment.

2. Identify local climatic and environmental concerns; utilizing strategies which will encourage effective local sustainable design principles and building practices.

3. Exemplify creativity in attempting to explore the current environmental circumstances

4. Exemplify environmental strategies already adopted in the vernacular architectural language of Malaysia.

5. Exemplify and explain the concept of sustainability including environmental and ecological sustainability.

6. Recognize role and responsibility of an architect towards environment and society

PROJECT 1- SHORT ENVIRONMENTAL FILM

As part of that initiative this project intends to encourage us to do their part by producing short films that reflects these concerns and to part of the change for a better world and be on the big screen with their creative thoughts.

In this project, I am grouped with Su Ling, Juergen, Shi Yin, Joy Ann and Teck Poh. The topic that we chose for our video is Car Pool as we realized that air pollution by car is one of the major problem in Malaysia. We hope that this video can increase the Malaysian's awareness.
