ARCHITECTURE DESIGN STUDIO 1
Architectural Design Studio 1is structured as an introduction to architectural design. This preliminary design module aims to present and explains design through the expression of the perception of ‘self’ and the body. Students will undertake a series of studio-based exercises and assignments that introduces the fundamental methods, principles and approaches in design thinking and basic spatial design.
Learning Outcomes
1. Generate design concepts through the process of exploring various sources and abstracting ideas.
2. Identify key architectural design elements and principles with the ability to discern how they inform space and form
3. Relate the idea of the individual ‘self’ and the body’ to space and its experiential qualities.
4. Articulate and apply architectural design elements, principles and materials to create an architectural composition that demonstrates place-making.
5. Utilize a process-oriented approach involving sketching and model-making as tools for generating and developing design ideas.
6. Produce legible orthogonal drawings and architectural models to visualize and communicate final design.
PROJECT 1- POKEMON
The first project of design studio 1 is to design an artwork for the pokemon chosen. The pokemon that I have chosen is Magikarp. It is a weak pokemon that will transfrom to a stronger pokemon later.
This project is an intro to design studio. We have to apply design elements and principles to the artwork we produced. The artwork that I have designed is a stand lamp.

PROJECT 2 - SHELTER
In this project, I am paired up with Shi Yin. We are asked to produce a 1 to 1 shelter that we can sleep inside for a night and transferable as we are going to shift our tent to Janda Baik and stay there for a night.
We have to apply the design elements and principles in the tent as well as consider about the anthropometry of human in the tent.

PROJECT 3 - HIDEOUT
The last project of design studio is to design a hideout for your personalities. We have to select a site for our hideout as well. This project requires us to apply all the techniques and knowledge that we have learnt from the lectures and previous project such as design elements and principles, anthropometry and narrative skills.
This project is also integrated with design communication. We have to produce orthographic drawings for our hideout as well as interior perspective drawings.
I have designed the hideout using the terms that best describe me which are
1. follows rules and regulations
2. need to feel secure
3. workoholic
My final hideout, REGLES is designed.
